Work–life balance and co-responsibility Today’s figures show that housework and childcare still fall mainly — and almost exclusively — on women. This harms not only their professional lives but also their health, as well as the wellbeing of the family as a whole. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of a proper work–life balance and of co-responsibility in domestic and caregiving tasks. First, the session will analyse how gender roles shape greater or lesser involvement in housework, with emphasis on how family structure favours (or not) balance and an equitable distribution of tasks. Finally, it will highlight the role that older people in the household play in balance and wellbeing. The second part of the training focuses on developing task-distribution strategies that work for all family members. It will also show forms of communication and negotiation that help avoid conflict. Finally, it will present different ways of gradually involving the youngest members of the household in domestic tasks.
