The new edition of Teatre de Barra, which opens next Thursday 17 September in five bars around Blanquerna , will be dedicated to the 1980s. As usual, performances run over six Thursdays: 17 and 24 September, and 1, 8, 15 and 22 October — leading to the final awards gala on Saturday 24 October at the Teatre Municipal Maruja Alfaro. The five bars from the previous edition return: Bar Mavi, Udon Asian Food, Ca na Mercy, S’Amagatall and Hotel Ars Magna. These venues host the five plays chosen from all texts submitted to the anonymous competition the producer launches for each new edition. The titles are: _Jingles, Wall & Cass, Sa Gàbia engañadora, Berlin ’89 and No controles._ All companies have already started rehearsals and are finishing the staging of stories by the playwrights selected for the occasion: Marga Arrom, David Mataró, Alfonso Morillas, Pablo Valera and Bernat Molina. In the cast, as usual for Teatre de Barra, are some of the island’s finest performers: Miquel Àngel Torrens, Carme Serna, Marina Nicolau, Joan Vila, Emili Gené, Joan Manel…
