Las gratitudes (The Gratitudes)

Delphine de Vigan’s acclaimed novel on stage — a reminder of how much the “little things” matter. Spoken thanks, the ones still owed, the painful ones, the risky ones, the everyday ones: they all hover over us and shape our world. This seemingly small story opens a space for reflection on those “little things” that finally matter so much — which is why the text sticks to your hands like fire and carries you through beauty, nostalgia, sadness, humour and, above all, love. Marie and Jérôme are linked by their bond with Michka Seld, an elderly woman whose last months of life they tell in interlaced voices. Marie is her neighbour: as a child, when her mother was away, Michka looked after her. Jérôme is the speech therapist trying to help the woman — newly admitted to a care home — recover, even partially, the speech she is losing to aphasia. Both become involved in Michka’s final wish: to find the couple who, during the German occupation, saved her from dying in an extermination camp by sheltering and hiding her. She never thanked them — and now she wants to show her gratitude… Production by Producciones Teatrales Contemporáneas, S.L. PLAY AREA: Free supervised play area for children.…
