Rome seen from the Balearics

Rome’s expansion across the Mediterranean transformed territories, societies and ways of life for centuries. Archaeologist Miguel Ángel Cau Ontiveros brings us closer to Roman civilisation from a particular angle: that of the Balearic Islands, incorporated into the Roman world after their conquest in 123 BCE. Recent sites and excavations let us observe, from the islands, how people lived, traded and built connections across the Mediterranean in Roman and Late Antique times.
