Rebeca Morey Pérez (Palma, 2004) has just graduated from the first cycle at ADEMA Bellas Artes with an excellence award, and this show is a chance to present her work from a personal, individual perspective. The proposal grows from the meeting of ADEMA Bellas Artes and Casal Solleric within the Nous Talents 1 programme, launched from this emblematic art space. The body of work is clear proof of the creative assurance gained through years of learning. The pieces in this exhibition move between the materiality of forms and the tension between making and displaying. At first glance we see how the body becomes the trigger for the action that unfolds in the creative moment, when matter demands effort to arrive at the form of things — of the work. Consequently, the artist reveals the result through a process she does not fully control, one that emerges from immersion in the work. It was Picasso who said “I do not seek, I find,” and Rebeca Morey’s practice truly oscillates between searching and finding, in a manual game where experience, vocation and persistence (she acknowledges her interest in modelling figures since childhood) yield forms that breathe an obsession with finding the phy…
