Artefacto: a thousand tentacles

A work of art, a versatile piece of furniture or material for a workshop… Artefacto is all of these things: a mobile device, halfway between artistic installation and teaching resource, designed specifically to host mediation proposals and materials created by artists and activated by an educator. Turning up the volume, inflating a membrane, filling with air… these are some of the reactions certain beings and organisms adopt when facing danger or communicating something. In this workshop we draw inspiration from those behaviours to build temporary inflatable structures that become extensions of Artefacto’s geometric pieces. We will create tentacles, cavities and protrusions with fabric pieces that, combined with each other, let us relate to space through play and experimentation. We put ourselves in the skin of organisms beyond the human body and build a shared space where we become a collective body.
