Concierto extraordinario de Santa Cecilia

A tribute to the identity, heritage and memory of Mallorca through symphonic music, narration, poetry and audiovisual projection. The show Les nostres arrels is an artistic project of the Municipal Band of Music of Santanyí, which is formed by two works by the Mallorcan composer Joan Martorell i Adrover, closely linked to each other. The first one, Mallorca. A viatge a l'interior, is a symphonic work premiered in 2006 on the occasion of the Diada de Mallorca and adapted by the composer himself for music band commissioned by the Municipal Band of Music of Santanyí. The second, Santanyí: paisatge de memòria, is a composition of new creation written expressly as a tribute to the municipality and its band. The spectators will live an experience that goes beyond the conventional concert. Music dialogue with narration and poetry to offer an emotional tour of the landscapes, history and culture of Mallorca. Interpreted by a formation with more than 170 years of history, the project symbolizes the continuity between tradition and contemporary creation, and puts to value the Municipal Band of Music of Santanyí as one of the most representative cultural institutions of the Balearic Islands.
