Àurea Márquez, one of Catalonia’s most versatile and recognised actresses, brings this controversial figure to life with a performance that digs into his most intimate and sensitive layers. Beyond the familiar story — the inevitable sale of the cherry orchard, the end of an aristocratic era and the arrival of a new bourgeois order — this rewrite centres on the most human dimension of its protagonist. The audience meets a character marked by deep lacks and wounds from the past; someone born and raised in a world of misery and humiliation that imprints on him an indestructible hunger for advancement and, at the same time, resentment.
