Sa Boira’s 66th production brings us into the committed, critical world of Miguel Hernández. After Pep Tosar’s outstanding work in Vientos del pueblo, based on Hernández’s life and writing, Sa Boira steps deeper into the poet and playwright’s universe. El labrador de más aire — a play that resonates with another great author, Federico García Lorca — was published in 1937. It belongs to Hernández’s social theatre and reflects his concern for the social problems of his time, especially during the Spanish Civil War. Through the story of a farm labourer facing adversity and poverty, Hernández denounces living conditions and criticises the violence and injustice of the era. The play uses a mixed structure combining dramatic and lyrical elements and is considered a harsh critique of fascism, published before his imprisonment. Production by ONCE Illes Balears.
