A couple hit by the Great Depression move to an abandoned farm and, with others in the same boat, form a cooperative to work the land. King Vidor’s Our Daily Bread (1934), shot far from the studios, honours humble labour and collective hope. Presented with context by Mallorcan film critic and lecturer Josep C.
